The Kingdom Come

Happy Monday Everyone!

For those of you that live in Northwest Arkansas I hope that you got to see the sunrise this morning. I feel incredibly blessed to get to see the amazing picture that God painted this morning!
If you couldn’t tell from two weeks ago, the church that I’m going to is making their way through the book of Luke, That means that most of these Monday posts will be coming from Luke.
Yes, they do already have a blog where they put the lesson from Sunday, but then I wouldn’t get to add my own thoughts to it ( If you really want to check out that blog, let me know in the comments and I’ll add the link).

This is was on Luke 17:20-37,

Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed,  nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” And he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. And they will say to you, ‘Look, there!’ or ‘Look, here!’ Do not go out or follow them. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be bin his day. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”

In this passage Jesus has a word to the pharisees and a word to his disciples. For the pharisees it was The Kingdom is both now and later. For the disciples it was how he was going to come back.

1. The next time I come back, there will be no doubt.  Luke 17:22-25

2. The next time I come back, I’ll catch people by surprise. Luke 17:26-29

3. The next time I come back, There will be no second chances. Luke 17:30-37

He was basically letting them know that his second coming was imminent and that we better be ready.

Since Jesus is going to coming back as king, he can’t take the throne if we’re sitting on it. If we think that the world revolves around us then how will we be able to let him do what he’s been planning to do since the garden. When we out Jesus on the throne then we we become the Kingdom. That’s the only way that we can full worship the King!

Here are some ways that we can get ready for that second coming…

1. Pursue Intimacy with Jesus.

2. Examine your heart ruthlessly.

3. Think more about Heaven.

4. Hold “Stuff” loosely- give it away!

5. Live Sacrificially.

6. Be Engaged in activities you won’t be ashamed of when He comes.

7. Realize that if you do the first 6 thing, then people will make fun of you.
