Satisfaction and Security

This is how I felt after work today…

I Survived Another Monday

and yes, I did make myself a badge. Thanks to everyone at WordCamp Fayetteville for talking about Canva. It’s a really cool website where you can make things like this. ^

I’m going to attempt to use some other the tips that I picked up at WordCamp. Things like proofing my work (you probably guessed that I have a problem with doing that),  writing more  (I am a women of few words), and having better pictures. Let’s see how well I keep up with that. :)

Sunday's Lesson

Sunday’s lesson was on Psalm 16.

1. Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. 2. I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord;  apart from you I have no good thing.’ 3.  I say of the holy people who are in the land, They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.’ 4. Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips. 5. Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup, you make my lot secure. 6. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. 7. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. 8. I keep my eyes always on the LordWith him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 9. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, 10. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.  11. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalm 16 NIV

We most satisfied and secure when:

1. We make the Lord our protection and ultimate good. Psalm 16:1-2

2. We love our brothers and sisters. Psalm 16: 3

3. We recognize the idols in our lives. Psalm 16:4

4. We make God alone our portion.  Psalm 16:5-6

5. We embrace God’s sovereign care in our lives. Psalm 16:8

6. We recognize that our relationship with God is so secure that death can’t separate us from Him. Psalm 16:9-11

We live in a world that is over selling and under giving.

We see God and all the things that he’s done for us, but we tend to push him to the side. We run to the world that doesn’t care about us and the needs of our hearts whenever we should be running to the one that gave up his Only son for Us. He’s the only thing that can satisfy our needs. He’s the only one that give us true security.

When will we start running towards God and away from the world?
